Okay well I just got it a few like 7 days ago from my Bff, and she is clean! but she got it from sleeping over someones house who is dirty, and we treated it, because it was only the eggs, we got it just in time and so does my BFF, so I don't think we have it anymore.. but I Am sleeping over my BFF's house Monday..and my mom put some tea tree oil in my shampoo because we heard that it makes my hair invisible to lice, and the potent smell keeps them away, but she did not put it in my conditioner, so will it still work? and also before I go to sleep over my Bff's house I'm going to take a shower with that stuff, and then put some hair gel, and wet rain or Aussie hairspray in my hair... so you think I might get it still?? I'm going to be useing a sleeping bag, and my own pillow, and i will be sleeping on the ground (rug), but I don't think she has it anymore because she told me she does not.. but just for safty..you know what I mean?? So please can someone answer my 2 questions.. will I be protected with al lthat crap in my hair, and If I put tea tree oil in my shampoo, but not conditioner, will it still prevent head lice?, thank you so much.. I want a good answer please.. I'm serious about it.. thanks again(;If I put tea tree oil in my shampoo, but not conditioner, will it still prevent head lice?
NO sorry it will not prevent it but do not use conditioner use lice shampoo and lice combs if u get the subscription kind it will work the best ii had lice and trust me the metal lice combs and subscription shampoo it the fast and easy way to rid of them and also clean any thing your head touches they make lice furniture spray good luckIf I put tea tree oil in my shampoo, but not conditioner, will it still prevent head lice?
Honestly, I would recommend not going over her house for a while, until both of you are sure that for several weeks you both have been lice free.
I know what you are going thru, and have had it several times in my life. My heart goes out to you.
If you go over her house, you are taking a chance. Im sure your friend wouldnt lie to you, but she may have checked and been wrong, you could get it again.
And as for the tree oil, I have had several friends say that it has worked for them. Usually telling me that they put tree oil in their shampoo. I do not know about conditioner tho.
I would be careful if u decide to put tree oil directly on your head because sometimes that can cause serious skin interactions. Even if the shampoo+tree oil works, directly putting it on your scalp and massaging it in can cause allergic reactions. So put a small amount on your arm for a few minutes to test first.
I am not sure about that
I have never heard of putting Tea Tree Oil in the shampoo for lice.
What does work is a hot blow dryer. The little critters cannot stand the heat and will not stay.
I have been a licensed cosmetologist for 30 years.
Hope this helps.
