i have this crazy curly hair, that i really love- but it's a bittersweet adoration. i can never get just the right texture and curl- either it's super shiny, defined curls and nastily crunchy, or impossible, frizzy, but soft and natural, i would love a happy medium. thanks so much for your replies!Does anyone know a dependable way to repair and style curly, frizzified hair? shampoos, conditioner, gels ect?
use the john frieda range for your hair - frizz ease to control the frizz, and their smoothing shampoo/conditioner, and mousse.Does anyone know a dependable way to repair and style curly, frizzified hair? shampoos, conditioner, gels ect?
The best way... go to a salon, and get a conditioning shampoo. you can't limit yourself to one product, such as mousse. You must use several... mousse to blow dry and/or scrunch with, a shine spray, then finish up with a finishing spray. i'm a hair stylist. you may want to try some ';biolage- smoothing serum'; works wonders. one of my favourites, the paul mitchell:express style- worked up, and i really like the sebastian or paul mitchell finishing sprays. good luck!
ever heard of a razor?
lot's of celebs and jocks do it
Definitely...There are so many out right now.
It can be really fun. Try adding product to your hair when it's wet, before you comb it out, and after it's dry, before you run your fingers through it, or possibly a comb. Be careful, it creates friction...which creates frizz. Some leave in conditioners help get rid of the crunchy factor, (ie.Sexy hair concepts or Tigi), when used in conjunction with a curling creme or spray.
...Cosmetologist =o)
Redken Ringlet 07 is the best for curly hair..no matter what type of curls you have it makes them ringlets. it doesnt make hair hard, it shines and smells great. would definitely give it a try.
I have pretty much the same hair type,so I see where you are coming from there! A few tips that I have picked up along the way...
- Use a good quality hair conditioner, curly hair tends to be dry by nature so will respond well to a good conditioner. My faves at the moment are Tigi 'Curls Rock' Conditioner and Joico 'Moisturise'.
- Leave the conditioner in your hair for as long as possible in the shower and afterwards rinse it out in cold water.... as cold as you can tolerate it Hot water tends to make your hair frizz otherwise
- After washing it, wrap it in a towel but avoid rubbing it etc as it tends to make it go a little on the frizzy side!
- Use a hair mousse designed for curly hair... I'd definitely use the Frizz Ease stuff- it rocks!
Apart from that I'd just say see a good hairdresser who understands curly hair, as the way it is cut/ layered etc makes a big difference to how manageable it is. I also tend to keep it at a reasonable length as I find if it gets too long that weight of it tends to pull the curl downwards making it seem more frizzy than curly.
Good Luck! :)
Oh and I'm also interested in any other tips that people have!
I have long, thick curly hair; and for what seemed forever I had tried looking for the perfect solution to tame my unruly mane. After trying literally every hair product available, I found that these products were absolutely the best, and will give you the best satisfactory results:
#1: Best shampoo %26amp; conditioner for frizzy hair Kerastase has the best products in our opinion for curly hair. Their Nutritive Bain Elasto-Curl Shampoo is praised by beauty experts for its intense moisturizing properties. It will soften coarse, curly hair while enhancing your natural curl without letting it get frizzy on you.
For conditioners, go the Kerastase route again, with its Nutritive Masquintense conditioner:

Best hair-styling cream Creams are a must for calming flyaways while boosting shine. We love Ojon Conditioning Finishing Paste. This product works great on dry hair. Simply rub a bit between your hands then palm over your curly hair.
#3. Best shine serums for curly hair Smooth frizz %26amp; flyaways with a great shine serum. A great less-expensive project (about $6) is Neutrogena Triple Moisture Healing Shine Serum:
A medium-price gloss to try is Bumble %26amp; Bumble 'DeFrizz'
A great-but-pricey gloss is Rene Furterer Spray Gloss:
#4. Best relaxing balms Another great way to tame coarse, flyaway hair is to use a relaxing balm. You'll love these lightweight textures that won't leave hair feeling greasy:
PhytoDefrisant Botanical Hair Relaxing Balm. This relaxing balm is considered a must-have in every stylist's kit, according to InStyle magazine's 'Best Beauty Buys' 2006 issue.
We also like KMS Flat-Out Relaxing Balm
#5. Best styling gel for curly hair The pros say Senscience Smooth Gelee ($13, call 800-626-3684) is perfect for taming coarse, curly hair. It's also great when blow-drying or ironing hair straight. You'll find it won't make hair stiff, a bad effect of using many gels.
No perm or professional relaxer will do the miracle work of these products! Try each one and see which one you like the best.
